College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) that its esteemed officer, Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Chairperson of Mathematics Department), was invited as a guest speaker in the 6th International Conference on Pure and Applied Mathematics (ICPAM-2023), organized by the University of Sargodha, in collaboration with Punjab Higher Education Department and Pakistan Science Foundation Islamabad. The two days conference, which was held on 6th and 7th December 2023, witnessed the participation of 38 internationally renowned speakers and 27 prominent national speakers, who shared their valuable insights and research findings on various topics related to pure and applied mathematics. The Mathematics Department of GCWUF owned its responsibility, showed highly active participation in this conference and represented the university at such a prestigious platform that was packed with dignitaries from both national and international levels. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, being an invited speaker in the conference and a Member of the National Review Committee, seized this opportunity and presented the bright face of GCWUF in front of the international and national delegations, she also elucidated in her talk about the ongoing entrepreneurial and other progressive activities of the GCWUF. On 2nd Day of the conference, she delivered a talk on the topic Advancement of an Efficient Eighth-Order Traub-Steffensen-Type Iteration Function for Solving Multiple Roots of Nonlinear Equation. In her talk, she expounded several advanced iterative techniques for finding multiple roots of higher order, along with the evaluation of derivatives, and demonstrated their efficacy and convergence. She also motivated the faculty of the Mathematics Department to become part of this conference, as a result of which Ms. Ammara Yasin (Visiting Lecturer Department of Mathematics, GCWUF) also delivered a lecture on the topic Galerkin finite element using B-spline function to solve the fractional diffusion equation arising in anomalous model. The conference was also attended by Ms. Hina Batool (Visiting Lecturer Department of Mathematics, GCWUF) and Ms. Faiza Akram (Visiting Lecturer Mathematics Department, GCWUF) The conference culminated with a certificate distribution ceremony, wherein Prof. Dr. Saima Akram was awarded with a certificate for being an invited national speaker, Ms. Ammara Yasin for delivering a talk, and Ms. Faiza Akram and Ms. Hina Batool as participants.
