GCWUF Nutritional Sciences Department Leads Seminar on Lifelong Women’s Nutrition at FWCCIThe Department of Nutritional Sciences at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), in collaboration with the Standing Health Committee of the Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI), organized a seminar titled “Nourishing Across the Ages” at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). The event, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), aimed to promote awareness of women’s nutrition at every life stage.Opening the seminar, FWCCI President Ms. Shahida Aftab highlighted the urgent need for nutritional literacy among women. Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of Nutritional Sciences at GCWUF, delivered the keynote address, detailing the unique dietary needs of women over 30 and strategies to combat age-related health issues through proper nutrition and lifestyle modifications. Ms. Nizwa Itrat, Lecturer at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, addressed essential nutritional requirements from infancy to young adulthood, emphasizing the benefits of adopting healthy eating habits early.Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, Chairperson of the FWCCI Health Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, recognizing the Nutritional Sciences Department’s leadership in advancing nutrition education and calling for greater investment in women’s health initiatives.A community awareness walk and the presentation of certificates and shields by FCCI President Mr. Rehan Naseem Bharara, honored guest speakers. Meanwhile, GCWUF Nutritional Sciences students conducted a Nutrition Camp, offering free BMI, blood pressure, and blood glucose screenings that received a strong public response.The seminar was praised for the Nutritional Sciences Department’s impactful contribution to community health awareness and for fostering meaningful academia-industry collaboration to improve women’s well-being through nutrition.
