The Directorate of Student Affairs organized a seminar on Islamic Banking on 16-02-2023 in Video Conference Room in collaboration with the National Institute of Banking and Finance of the State Bank of Pakistan. The guest speakers of the seminar were Mr. Imran Yousuf Sheikh, Head of Islamic Banking, Faysal Bank, and Mr. Fareed Khan, Senior Joint Director, State Bank of Pakistan, Islamic Banking Department accompanied by Mr. Manzoor, Senior Joint Director from NIBAF, and Mr. Tahir, Assistant Chief Manger, SBP, Faisalabad. In his welcome note, Mr. Manzoor told the aims and objectives of this seminar and introduced the speakers. Mr. Imran described the essential functions and procedures of an ordinary Islamic bank mentioning that it is a mere myth that there is no difference between both and that we should deny this myth with scholarly evidence. He advised that the Islamic financial transaction system must be included and introduced in the curriculum of our educational programs. Mr. Fareed highlighted the role of the Islamic Banking department of the State Bank of Pakistan to frame the regulatory standards and its system of monitoring Islamic banks in Pakistan. He said that their Shariah Scholars keenly observe the procedures and systems of Islamic banks to avoid any mishandling with the customers. All guests appreciated the efforts and initiatives of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq towards launching industry-based educational programs and strengthening the academia-industry linkage. Dr. Asma Aziz, DSA, thanked all the distinguished guests. Students of BS Islamic Banking attended the seminar. In the end, souvenirs were distributed among the speakers by Dr. Rukhsan Baloch, Coordinator of Humanities, and Ms. Shazia Adnan, Incharge Department of Islamic Studies.
