The Mathematics Department, GCWUF celebrated International Day of Mathematics/ Pi Day on March 14 on the theme of "Application of Mathematics in Real Life,". A poster competition was held on this evet. Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (T.I.) was the chief guest of the event, and Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli (Pro Vice Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sameen (Coordinator Arts & Social Sciences), and Dr. Mubashra Sadia (Chairperson Bio-Chemistry Department) were the judges of the poster competition. Ms. Rizwana Tanveer Randhawa, Controller of Examinations also graced the event by her presence. 24 groups of students from various sessions took part in this competition and displayed their posters. The students discussed the importance of mathematics in daily life. The judges evaluated the posters and chose the top three best posters. Syeda Zunaira (8th MA) stood 1st, Emaan Muhammad (8th MB) & Laiba Behzad (6th EC) stood 2nd, and Sania Shafiq (8th MA) stood 3rd in this competition. A cash prize amounting RS 7000, 5000 and 3000 was distributed among the winning teams respectively. All the organizers and participants of this poster competition were awarded with certificates of appreciation. Various other fun activities such as; Personification of different Graphs, Speeches, and Tableaus were also performed by students and were appreciated by the Judges. Dr. Asia Rauf and Dr. Madiha Tahir were the focal persons of the event. In the end, Chairperson Mathematics Department along with students held a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate this day.
