The 1st Two-day National Seminar Cum Workshop on ???Isolation and Development of Natural Products: Biological and Pharmaceutical applications??? has been organized by Department of Biochemistry, Government College Women University, Faisalabad on 2nd and 3rd August, 2023. University of Education-Faisalabad campus and Awami Laboratories, Lahore were the collaborating parties. The ???Inaugural session??? consisted the welcome address, Talks of the collaborators, chief guest, coordinator faculty of Science and Technology, Registrar GCWUF and the Worthy Vice Chancellor-GCWUF, while the second session was the ???Technical session??? in which the well-known guest speakers delivered their lectures, poster examination and lab works were performed. In welcome note, the event convener Dr. Mubshara Saadia, Chairperson Department of Biochemistry highlighted the progressive vision of the Worthy Vice Chancellor GCWUF, Prof. Dr. Zil-i-Huma Nazli, for providing support and guidance for the successful completion of the event. She described that through the successful conduct of current event we not only have introduced our students about the developments progressing now in the field of Natural Products, yet we have also attained the requirement of Biochemistry scheme of study as well as the goals of SDGs proposed by UN. She also added that the current event has significance as it has representation of researchers from all the provinces of Pakistan. The event collaborator Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal, Principal University of Education-FSD, delivered a very comprehensive talk on the extraction of bioactive compounds from plants. He indicated the significance of the activity in decreasing gaps between academia and industry. The event collaborator Mr. Irfan Shahid, CEO-Awami laboratories LHR, briefed the students on making career in herbal industries of Pakistan. He discussed the scientific basis of Unani medicines and encouraged students to work hard in this specific filed to promote less expensive and reliable herbal products in Pakistani market. The chief guest Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Norka, Chairperson Department of Plant Breedings and Genetics, University of Sargodha appreciated the concept of seminar and encouraged to conduct similar events whic contribute to uplifting the institution???s ranking at national and international levels. Dr. Norka presented souvenirs on behalf of Vice Chancellor, University of Sargodha to the Worthy Vice Chancellor GCWUF, Prof. Dr. Zil-i-Huma Nazli and the Chairperson Department of Biochemistry. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Chairman Department of Mathematics appreciated the efforts of Department of Biochemistry for the conduct of successful seminar on natural products. Mr. Asif. A. Malik, Registrar GCWUF also appreciated the efforts of the convener to establish collaborations with two well known organizations of Pakistan. The Chief Patron of the event Prof. Dr. Zil-i-Huma Nazli, the Worthy Vice Chancellor GCWUF praised the conduct of activity on unique title and congratulate the Chairperson of Biochemistry Department and her team for organizing the event successfully. The Chief guest of 2nd day of the event was Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences GCUF. The technical sessions included talks by Dr. Mahmood-ul-Hassan from NIAB-FSD, Dr. Abdul Tawab-NIBGE-FSD, Prof. Dr. Nudrat Aisha Akram from GCUF-FSD, Prof. Dr. Imran Khatri from Jamshoro-Sindh, Dr. Abdul Rauf from Sawabi-KPK, Dr. Farida Bahlil from Quetta-Balochistan, Dr. Shagufta Kamal GCUF-FSD, Dr. Laila Rubab EU-Jauharabad Khushaab and Dr. Farid-Ul-Haq from EU- FSD. In the closing ceremony of the event, the Chair of event for both the days Prof. Dr. Khalil-Ur-Rahman, Chairperson Department of Biochemistry, Riphah International University-FSD summed up the overall discussion of the researcher and proposed some insights for future benefits.
