Advancing Teaching Excellence


The training on ???Advancing Teaching Excellence: Strategies for Effective Higher Education Instructions and Professional Development was organized by PHEC from September 19-21, 2023 at Veterinary Academy UVAS, Lahore. Dr. Tamseela Mumtaz (Department of Zoology), Ms. Ayesha Hussain (Department of Home Economics), Dr. Fozia Farhat (Department of Botany), and Ms. Nasreen Akhter (Department of Public Administration), attended the training workshop to represent GCWUF, upon the recommendation and nomination by the competent authority. Around 90 lecturers and assistant professors serving public and private sector universities participated in the training. The immanent speakers such as Prof. Dr. Najma Najam (Former VC Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi), Dr. Muhammad Saeed (Former Chairman, Dept. of Research & Evaluation Institute of Education & Research, University of the Punjab, Lahore), Dr. Shahid Imran (Chairman/Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Engineering and Technology Lahore), Dr. Fahad Noor (Professor, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore), Dr. Hafiz Haider Ali (Associate Professor, Government College University, Lahore), Mr. Faisal Ijaz (Controller of Examinations, Information Technology University, Lahore), and Dr. Gulzar Ahmad (HOD, Psychology Department, Lahore Garrison University) has shared their valuable experiences and guide the participants to make teaching process more innovative and interesting. Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, along with Chief Operating Officer Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Baluch, and Dean Biological Sciences UVAS Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman, graced the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates among participants of 3-day training workshops (Batch 3 & 4) as part of faculty development program of Punjab Higher Education Commission. In his concluding address, Chairperson PHEC emphasized on the importance of continuing professional development. He said that quality of education revolves around the quality of teachers and the Punjab Higher Education Commission is regularly arranging training programs to help university and college teachers in adopting the latest trends in teaching. He further said that our teachers will have to develop themselves to teach their students in a way so that they can face the global challenges.
