The Department of English Govt College Women University Faisalabad organised book launch ceremony of Dr. Safeer Awan???s "Sorrows of Sarswati" and ???Tarar???s Fragile Times: The Work of Mustansar Hussain Tarar??? on 6 October 2023. Professor Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Vice Chancellor GCWUF, was the Patron-in-Chief, while the event was organized by the Incharge, Department of English, Ms. Saira Akhter. Professor Dr. Mazhar Hayat, Chairperson, Department of English, Government College University Faisalabad, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Ms. Amani Sharif, Lecturer, Department of English, hosted the event. Dr. Muhammad Safeer Awan, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities, National University of Modern Languages Islamabad, has been a veteran professor of Global Anglophone Literature and Critical Theory for around three decades. He is a Fiction Writer, Poet, Critic and a Translator. He has turned his creative attention to one of the most prolific and renowned writers of Pakistan, Mustansar Hussain Tarar, in order to bring his work into the global limelight. Tarar???s _Bahao_ depicts a declining civilization. Dr. Safeer Awan took up the challenge of translating this difficult work as a national cause so that a cultural text can be made available to the English-speaking world. According to Dr. Awan, this is his endeavour to put Pakistan on the cultural map of the world. Tarar???s Fragile _Times: The Work of Mustansar Hussain Tarar_ is an outstanding critical companion to Tarar's works of fiction. Dr. Mazhar Hayat emphasized that such critical works are direly needed to project indigenous literary texts on international forums where only the works written in English are deemed qualified for recognition. He lauded Incharge Department of English, Ms. Saira Akhter, for organizing literary events in order to inculcate the love of learning among students. Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Saira Akhter emphasised the importance of translating works for the global audience. The event garnered significant recognition from esteemed guests, including Dr. Rukhsana Bibi (Coordinator Humanities and Languages), Dr. Saima Akram (Coordinator Science and Technology), Dr. Asma Aziz (Director DSA), Ms. Amara Javed (Incharge Media Cell), Dr. Sadaf Naqvi (Incharge Urdu Department), Professor Khaled Hassan (GCUF), Ms. Rahat Afza (Former HOD English Department GCWUF), and Ms. Shahida Rai (Former Principal Government College for Women Samanabad). The book launch provided an opportunity for attendees to purchase the newly published books and get them signed by the author.
