An awareness session on "Banking on Equality Policy" was conducted by the DSA at GCWUF in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. Ms. Quratulain, Deputy Chief Manager, SBP Faisalabad was the guest speaker. She shared facts, statistics, and features of the ???Banking on Equality Policy??? of Islamic Banking to the audience. Talking about the background of the policy, she told about the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Gender Gap Report 2023, that ranked Pakistan at 142 position among 146 countries ??? with a 57.5 percent gender parity ??? the highest since 2006?? 'Banking on Equality Policy' is a landmark by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), to reduce the gender gap in financial inclusion by bringing a shift towards women-friendly business practices in the financial sector. These pillars include gender diversity, product and service design, facilitation of women customers by appointing at least one 'Women Champion' in each branch, increasing female participation in the SME, agriculture, and microfinance sectors, and constituting a high-level policy forum on gender and finance. Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma appreciated the efforts of the State Bank of Pakistan and said that women's institutions can play a very important role in reducing this gender equality gap. The seminar ended in a question-answer session.
