The Department of Zoology at Government College Women University Faisalabad successfully conducted its 4th Ph.D. defense on January 30, 2025. Ms. Hira Qaisar (2021-GCWUF-2868) defended her dissertation titled ???Rearing Larval Stages of Grass Carp in Biofloc-Based Aquaculture and Screening Antimicrobial Nanomaterials for System Sustainability.??? Her research was supervised by Dr. Sumaira Aslam (Supervisor-I), Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, GCWUF, and Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (Supervisor-II), Ex-Vice Chancellor GCWUF, Chairperson, and Professor of Chemistry at COMSATS University, Islamabad (Lahore Campus). The public defense was evaluated by Prof. Dr. Hammad from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, and Dr. Asma Choudhary from the University of Education, Lahore. The event was attended by Ms. Rizwana Tanveer Randhawa, Controller of Examinations; Dr. Sadia Asim, Registrar; Dr. Salma Shahid, Director Academics; Dr. Hira Munir, Director ORIC; Dr. Tamseela Mumtaz, Incharge (Zoology) along with faculty members from the Department of Zoology, M.Phil., and Ph.D. research students. Following the successful defense, Prof. Dr. Hammad and Dr. Asma Choudhary congratulated Ms. Hira Qaisar and commended her supervisor, Dr. Sumaira Aslam, for their impactful research. They lauded their efforts in addressing the critical challenge of pathogen control in emerging biofloc technology by incorporating nanonutrients. The examiners particularly appreciated Ms. Qaisar for developing the novel Aquapatho Kit, designed for the rapid detection of fish pathogens in aquaculture systems
