Following the progressive vision of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), The staff and administration of Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) continue its struggle towards social betterment by proving awareness and education through advanced technology. following the same pattern, Department of Biochemistry- GCWUF in collaboration with Department of Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Riphah International University Faisalabad (RIUF) arranged a 03-Days International Conference Cum Workshop on ???Natural Products: Biological and Pharmaceutical Applications??? (Hybrid) on 18-20 December 2024. The aim of current activity was to motivate the scientific community in shaping and designing their research activities in ??? Herbalism ???. The inaugural ceremony at 1st day was held at Khadija Auditorium, RIUF with Recitation from the HOLY QUR???AAN AND NAAT SHAREEF. At welcome note, the Patron of the event, Prof. Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman , Director Campus-Riphah International University Faisalabad (RIUF) briefed about the aim and objectives of the activity and presented a worldwide overview about the economic status of international herbal industry and described the current low position of Pakistani herbal industry in comparison so the remedial measures may be taken through awareness campaigns. Among the Honorable guests were; Patron-in-Chief of the event, Prof. Dr. Mudassir Ahmad -Chairman-RIUF, The nominee of VC-GCWUF, the Pro-VC, GCWUF- Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli,-*Patron of the event , The nominee of Vice Chancellor- University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Prof Dr. Amer Jamil - Director Academics-UAF, Dr. M. Tahir Khaleeq , President Pakistan Nuclear Society PCS (R), Former DG-Nuclear Power Engineering, Guests speakers from NIAB and NIBGE, Mr. Irfan Shahid , CEO Awami Laboratories-Lahore, and The Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Khan (S.I.) , President Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Ex.- Chairman- Pakistan Science Foundation, Ex.-Vice Chancellor- Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi). He praised the efforts of both institutions in developing collaboration under social reach program and appreciated that government institutions are now following the practice of collaborative efforts in extending the outcomes of science and technology??to??society. The current accomplished 500+ registrations, Guest speakers of 17 reputed university joined the event with 50+ Speakers from different disciplines related to natural products joined from all over Pakistan (Kashmir/ Gilgit ??? Sindh) including from abroad, 15+ stalls, 15+ Posters and 03- practical sessions. At this time a Memorandum of union ( MOU ) was also signed between Chairperson Department of Biochemistry, GCWUF and Chairperson Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology RIUF for developing cooperation in different academic and research??disciplines.
