Floral exhibitions are trending these days but landscaping with plants bearing unique foliage is an interesting idea. Foliage plants include all those plants which are mainly grown for their bright coloured leaves. Different varieties are grown for different purposes. Foliage plants, for example, peppermint, aloe vera and many others are extensively used to cure various medical issues of human beings. Due to immense popularity of foliage plants in landscaping, The Horticultural Society in collaboration with The Department of Botany, GCWUF organized an event entitled Foliage Plant Exhibition on 22nd December, 2017, which solely focused on foliage arrangements. All the faculty members, students and administrative staff actively participated in the exhibition in making necessary arrangements. The welcome address was delivered by Incharge, Department of Botany and The Horticulture Society Dr. Ambreen Khadija Alvi, who delivered welcome address followed by an informative speech on the role of foliage plants in interior decoration. This was followed by address of the chief guest, Dr. Zill I Huma Nazli, Registrar, G.C. Women University, Faisalabad, who on behalf of Professor Dr. Naureen Aziz Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, GCWUF admired the organizing team for arranging such an interesting competition. She added that it is the vision of honourable Vice Chancellor to promote healthy activities among students which are surely a source of mitigating mental stress. She congratulated winners and encouraged runner ups of the exhibitions.
