Important Achievement

A kitchen garden ensures an inexpensive, regular and handy supply of fresh vegetables which are basic to nutrition. Keep in view of significance of vegetables, one day seminar was organized by Department of Botany in collaboration of Career Counseling Centre of Govt. College Women University Faisalabad on 1st November, 2017. The purpose of this activity was to increase awareness among students about the importance and benefits of Kitchen gardening and to provoke vegetable cultivation by tunnel farming. The Chief guest of the event was the Honorable Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Naureen Aziz Qureshi. The respected Vice Chancellor laid emphasis on the importance of kitchen gardening in her address and advised the student to take it up as a healthy hobby. The guest speaker, Dr. Sajid Iqbal Sindhu (CEO Green Circle) known for its specialty in providing consultancy for tunnel farming and vegetable cultivation. He gave information on the various methods of vegetable cultivation, benefits of adopting it as a pastime and economic gains which could be achieved. The Guest speaker Dr. Sajid Iqbal Sindhu delivered a very informative lecture on kitchen gardening and how it could be taken up at home. The students were very enthusiastic and the question answer session proved to be very productive. In the end word of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nighat Bhatty, Coordinator Science and Technology and the guest speaker was presented with a souvenir.
