Plant anatomy is the study of internal structure of plant organs like root, stem and leaves etc. It is particularly concerned with different types of cells, tissues, and tissue system, which are the basic components of internal plant body. Internal plant structure varies as the environment of the plant changes, therefore, plant anatomy research group in department has been working on the exploration of the internal structure of different plant growing in their natural habitats as well as under different types of biotic and abiotic stresses, investigation of the mechanism of stress tolerance based on plant anatomy, Exploration of the relationship of plant anatomy with other fields like plant systematics, physiology, ecology etc. Other research activities include the establishment of Botanical gardens by the collection of native and exotic plants and exploring the flora of Pakistan.
