PI: Dr. Nusrat Shafiq Amount: 11.032Million Duration: 24 Months Summary/ Objectives: 1. As target product has been imported in Pakistan from other countries approx. about 9.24 tons/year with a budget of 464.5 million rupees which is a heavy burden on Pakistan economy. To save Pakistani budget for this purpose present project is designed for cheap production of Allantoin for Pakistan industry. 2. Designed project based on use of Natural products and medicinal Plants that Pakistan enriched with. Raw material is free of cost. 3. Cell tissue culturing is a less time consuming technique which helps to grow a plant in a less time under sterile conditions in a nutrient culture medium of our desired composition. By this process, we could enhance the production of our required chemical constituent by controlling the composition of media. As target molecule is major constituent of world cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, by producing the allantoin, Pakistan would be able to locate his position as exporter in the world market instead of importer.
