Dr. Robina Farooq and her research group is working to develop low cost processes for the conversion of inorganic and organic compounds in wastewater, solid waste or atmospheric pollutants to valuable products. She is the author of scientific manuscripts, books, book chapters and granted patents by USTPO, USA. She is the recipient of best Innovator, best university teacher and productive scientist awards. She worked on projects including ultrasonic decomposition of pollutants, phytoremediation of wastewater, bio-electrochemical synthesis of renewable fuel, bio-electrochemical decomposition of wastewater and energy recovery, recovery of heavy metal from effluents, microbial fuel cell technology for wastewater remediation and retrieval of precious metals from printed circuit boards. Ongoing Research: - Development of harmful bacteria testing kits - Microbial fuel cells technology for bio-electrochemical treatment of wastewater - Synthesis/Characterization of novel materials for wastewater treatment - Production of bioplastics from industrial wastes
