The Department of English, Government College Women University, Faisalabad organized a one-day international seminar on "The Nexus Between English Language and Literature" on May 19, 2025 to celebrate International English Language Day under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. Dr. Saira Akhter, Incharge Department of English, warmly welcomed the honorable guests and participants, setting the tone for a productive and engaging seminar. The guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Shahbaz Arif, Head of English Department, Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences, Lahore, delivered profound insights into language and linguistics in his talk titled "Patterns in Sound and Structure: An n-Depth Analysis of the Etymology of the English Language". Dr. Sabahat Perveen, Associate Professor of English, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, explored the topic "Teaching Language to Gen Z: From Theory to Practice." Dr. Tasawar Abbas Shah, Graduate Writing Consultant, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA, imparted practical writing skills and techniques in his presentation "Writing a Lot: Overcoming Blocks and Challenges". Dr. Qasim Shafiq, Incharge of English Department, Baba Guru Nanak University, passionately articulated the relevance of literature in contemporary academia and society in his presentation "Indigenous Literature and the Complexities of Representing Resilience and Indigeneity." The seminar was streamed online as well, enabling a wider academic audience to benefit from the intellectual discourse. Moreover, the motivated and energetic students of the department performed a thoughtful dialogue between language and literature, demonstrated renowned literary characters, exhibited posters and book stall emphasizing the dynamic relationship between language and literature under the guidance of focal person Ms. Fauzia Amin, Lecturer in English. A well-researched documentary was also played highlighting the historical trajectory of evolution of English language. Faculty members from the English Department, Heads of departments from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Muhammad Hassan Lali Ex. Deputy Secretary HED and Rana Masaib Khan attended the seminar. Dr. Rukhsana Baloch, Coordinator of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, extended heartfelt thanks to the distinguished guests for their valuable contribution. Prof. Dr. Zill-e-Huma Nazli, Pro-Vice Chancellor, GCWUF, uttered closing remarks about the significance of English language in global world, appreciated the effort of English department and distributed souvenirs among the guest speakers.
