Exploring Governance and Heritage: A Study Tour to the Parliament of Pakistan The Department of Political Science and International Relations organized a one-day study tour to the Parliament of Pakistan in Islamabad to enhance students' understanding of governance, policy-making, and parliamentary functions. The visit aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by providing practical insights into legislation and inclusive political participation. Students were welcomed by Jamila Jaan Saba (ADP Senate) and Raja Abdul Khaliq (Deputy Protocol Senate), who briefed them on the Senate's structure, legislative role, and independence from the National Assembly. They also explored the Senate Museum, where they learned about its history and key figures through exhibits, documentaries, and wax statues of prominent politicians. The tour also included visits to cultural and historical landmarks such as Lok Virsa Museum, Heritage Museum, Pakistan Monument, and Faisal Mosque. These visits supported SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by highlighting cultural preservation and tourism's role in sustainable development. Additionally, the experience contributed to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality) by ensuring equal learning opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. Led by Dr. Tayba Anwar (Incharge, Department of Political Science and International Relations) and faculty members Talat Yasmeen, Tooba Islam, Ayesha Ambar, Anum Rasheed, and Mehwish Aslam, the tour enriched students' academic knowledge while fostering an appreciation for Pakistan???s democratic institutions and cultural heritage, reinforcing values of cooperation and community in line with SDG 17.
