The Department of Food Science and Technology Conducts Social Outreach Campaign on '||chr(34)||'Zero Hunger'||chr(34)||' in Village 76GBÚÚApril 28, 2025: In a meaningful step toward community empowerment and food security, the Department of Food Science and Technology at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), in collaboration with the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, organized a Social Outreach Campaign in Village 76GB.ÚThe campaign was part of the university’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger. The primary focus was to raise awareness about food insecurity, safe food practices, and sustainable consumption habits in the rural community.ÚLed by Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen, Chairperson of the Department of Food Science and Technology, and supported by Dr. Mahwash Aziz (Focal Person), Dr. Rizwana Batool, and Dr. Nazia Khalid, the outreach team conducted interactive sessions with local residents. These sessions covered key topics such as safe food handling, hygienic storage, nutritional preservation, food waste reduction, and income-generating food techniques.ÚInformational pamphlets on food safety and low-cost, nutritious recipes were distributed among the villagers. Students also engaged the community with practical demonstrations and encouraged them to adopt sustainable and income-generating food practices.ÚThe initiative was warmly welcomed by the residents of Village 76GB and marked a significant contribution to promoting food security and social responsibility in underserved communities.
