Department of Applied Psychology Organizes Mental Health Camp and Seminar at Government Graduate College SamanabadÚÚAs part of its growing Community Services Program and in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-3): Good Health and Well-being, the Department of Applied Psychology at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) organized its second Mental Health Camp at Government Graduate College (GGC), Samanabad for students on April 30, 2025.ÚLed by Dr. Riffat Sadiq, In-charge/Assistant Professor (GCWUF), and supported by Dr. Ejaz Rana, Head of Applied Psychology (GGC Samanabad), the initiative was powered by a dedicated team of psychology professionals and alumni. Event organizer Ms. Hafiza Saba Javaid, along with Ms. Quratulain (Founder, Faisalabad Applied Psychology Club-Alumni), and Ms. Ambreen Zahid (GCWUF alumna), facilitated a variety of mental health activities. These included psychological assessments, one-on-one counseling, and practical coping techniques for mental relaxation.ÚMore than 200 students benefited from the camp, which also distributed awareness materials on common mental health conditions and self-help strategies.ÚOn the same day, a seminar titled “Mental Health and Well-Being for All” was held in the college’s conference room. Dr. Muhammad Alam, Principal of GGC Samanabad, served as the Chief Guest and appreciated the collaborative efforts. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Saira Khan, Assistant Professor (GCWUF), who emphasized the rising need to address issues like anxiety and depression through early intervention and therapy.ÚThese activities significantly destigmatized mental health concerns, encouraged open dialogue, and promoted psychological well-being among youth.
