Faisalabad, June 4, 2025 — In observance of World Environment Day, the Directorate of Student Affairs (DSA) at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), following directives from the Punjab Government, organized an Eco Walk and campus-wide cleanliness campaigns to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.Themed “Zero Plastic, Zero Pollution,” the awareness walk was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, who emphasized GCWUF’s commitment to fostering a green campus. She highlighted the university’s plastic bottle ban and urged students and faculty to adopt eco-friendly habits, such as using refillable bottles and minimizing single-use plastics.Students, faculty, and staff participated enthusiastically in a campus cleanup drive, collecting plastic and other waste from lawns, walkways, and common areas. The campaign aimed to instill a sense of responsibility for maintaining a clean and healthy environment.The university also hosted awareness lectures on cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility. Faculty members stressed the importance of environmental care as both a civic duty and a step toward public health and ecological balance.Participants carried banners and placards promoting sustainable habits, echoing the values of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event reinforced GCWUF’s role in environmental stewardship and its commitment to building a greener, more sustainable future.
