GCWUF Hosts International Conference on Iqbal’s Philosophy of Interfaith HarmonyThe Faculty of Humanities & Languages at Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) organized a two-day international conference titled “Allama Iqbal’s Philosophy of Interfaith Harmony and Coexistence” on April 15–16, 2025. Scholars from Pakistan, the UK, India, and Azerbaijan gathered to explore Iqbal’s message of religious unity and peaceful coexistence.The inaugural session featured a welcome by Dr. Rukhsana Baloch, Coordinator Faculty of H&L, and a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Ali Kumail Qazalbash. Remarks were shared by Sheraz Ali (University of Manchester), Prof. Dr. Humayun Abbas (GCUF), and Prof. Dr. Riaz Majeed (TUF). Chief Guest Senator Irfan-ul-Haque Siddiqui emphasized Iqbal’s relevance, while Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) underscored his impact on education.An art exhibition titled “Echoes of Iqbal: A Journey Through Art”, curated by Dr. Tuba Najam, visually reflected Iqbal’s philosophy. A conversation with Senator Siddiqui offered personal insights into Iqbal’s enduring influence.Over two days, academic sessions featured scholars like Prof. Dr. Aalia Sohail Khan, Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal, and Dr. Rabia Sarfraz discussing topics such as Khudi, spiritual love, and pluralism. MPhil/PhD scholars and young researchers also contributed meaningfully.The closing ceremony included remarks from Prof. Dr. Rizwan Ullah Kokab, Dr. Eldost Ibrahimov (Azerbaijan), and Indian fiction writer Malkit Singh Machhana. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli offered closing reflections, and VC Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen praised the organizing team. Dr. Rukhsana Baloch gave the vote of thanks.Concluding with a group photo and national anthem, the conference honored Iqbal’s legacy while offering timely perspectives on interfaith harmony in a diverse world.
