Advanced Materials for Water & Environment Research Group (AMWERG)

Our research focuses on understanding and engineering advanced materials for environmental remediation. We study the surface mechanisms governing adsorption, magnetic separation, and photocatalytic processes in porous and agrobased materials. A key emphasis is on addressing emerging contaminants including microplastics, PFAS, and toxic metallic pollutants using magnetic adsorbents and bio-derived materials. Our work spans the development, characterization, and performance prediction of innovative adsorbents, biosorbents, and composite materials for water improvement. We integrate advanced analytical techniques to understand pollutant material interactions and to design efficient, sustainable, and scalable remediation strategies. Ultimately, our objective is to create highperformance, low-cost materials and technologies for wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring, and pollution control.
