Organized by the Department of English under SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), a workshop titled 'The Responsible Academic Use of AI in Literary Studies' was held on 19 May 2026 at Government College Women University Faisalabad with the approval and support of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.). The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Fauzia Amin, Lecturer, Department of English, and featured Dr. Maimoona Abdul Aziz, Head of the Department of English, National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Faisalabad Campus, and Dr. Syed Kazim Shah, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Linguistics, Government College University Faisalabad, as resource persons. The session was attended by faculty members, students, and distinguished university officials, including Dr. Shazia Adnan, Coordinator, Faculty of Humanities and Languages; Dr. Tayyaba Nighat, Incharge, Department of Urdu; Dr. Misbah, Incharge, Library; and Dr. Zillehuma Nazli, Director Academics. The training introduced participants to the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence in academic writing, focusing on permitted, cautioned, and prohibited applications of AI, effective prompt writing, and the practical use of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and DeepSeek. The workshop aimed to address emerging concerns regarding AI in literary studies while promoting technological awareness, innovation in learning practices, critical thinking, research integrity, and the preservation of human creativity. The session concluded with an interactive discussion and souvenir distribution to the resource persons. Dr. Sadia Waheed, Head, Department of English, thanked the speakers and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering an ethical, innovative, and digitally informed academic environment.
