The Department of Physics, GCWUF, in collaboration with the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), organized a Public Awareness Seminar on Nuclear and Radiation Safety in Pakistan on 20th October, 2025; under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I) Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Zilli Huma Nazli, Pro-Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. Dr Ayesha Younas (Chairperson, dept of Physics) welcomed all guests and participants and briefed the students about seminar and importance of radiation safety. The seminar focused on ionizing radiation, which is widely used in medicine, industry, and research, but it can be harmful to human health and the environment if not properly controlled. The session featured distinguished speakers from PNRA-Mr. Rana Muhammad Nadeem (Principal Scientific Officer) and Mr. Amir Mehmood (Principal Engineer) who delivered detailed lectures and explained PNRA s regulatory role in ensuring the safe use of nuclear technology across Pakistan and highlighted practical measures for protecting individuals and the environment from radiation exposure. This was followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, allowing students and faculty members to clarify their doubts and engage actively with the experts. Souvenirs were distributed by Prof. Dr. Zilli Huma Nazli, and she appreciated PNRA s efforts in promoting nuclear and radiation safety awareness and encouraged continued collaboration between GCWUF and PNRA for future educational and outreach programs. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Ayesha Younas. The event was highly appreciated by both students and faculty members for its informative content, practical insights, and interactive format.
