GCWUF Hosts 1st International Conference on Global Food SecurityÚFaisalabad, October 21, 2025 — Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) hosted its 1st International Conference on Sustainable Approaches to Address Global Food Security Challenges, inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC), at Jinnah Auditorium.ÚÚThe three-day conference, organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology, gathered over 60 national and international experts and 600 participants from Pakistan and abroad.ÚÚProf. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), Vice Chancellor GCWUF and Patron-in-Chief, highlighted the importance of building global collaborations for sustainable food systems, emphasizing food waste reduction and the promotion of organic lifestyles.ÚÚProf. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), graced the event as Guest of Honour alongside representatives from PFDA, IFANCA, PANAH, and universities from the USA, France, Egypt, China, UAE, Bahrain, and Sweden.ÚÚThe conference began with a welcome address by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli and an overview by Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen, Conference Chair. A Food Display Show, inaugurated by the distinguished guests, featured innovative and sustainable food products developed by students from GCWUF, GCUF, and UAF.ÚÚThe event serves as a vital platform for researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to collaborate on sustainable solutions for a food-secure future.
