GCWUF Promotes Reading Culture and Environmental Awareness among School ChildrenÚFaisalabad, November 3, 2025:ÚThe Green & Clean Society of GCWUF in collaboration with the Society of Reading and Knowledge (SRK) organized an outreach event titled “How to Promote Reading Culture in Students” and “Trees Are Eco-Friends — But How?” at Comprehensive Model Girls Higher Secondary School, Madina Town.ÚThe activity aimed to foster reading habits and environmental awareness among over 300 students and staff. Rana M. Abid Khan, Founder SRK, highlighted the theme “Taameer-e-Insaniyat Bazariye Kitaab” and introduced Pakistan’s first digital library initiative to promote accessible reading. Dr. Irfana Lalarukh stressed the importance of reforestation, citing Pakistan’s low forest cover (4.8%) and urging a 5 trees per person ratio.ÚMs. Misbah Bashir, Incharge Learning Resource Centre, linked reading and environmental care to Islamic and intellectual values, while Principal Ms. Razia Sultana encouraged students to act as eco-warriors.ÚStudents planted Kachnar, Marwa, Tabebuia, and Gulmohar trees, chanting “Green Pakistan, Clean Pakistan.” The event blended literacy promotion with environmental action, reflecting GCWUF’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
