Mathematics: Nurturing Minds for Flourishing Futures and Math Circles The Department of Mathematics, Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) organized a one-day workshop on ???Mathematics Nurturing Minds for Flourishing Futures and Math Circles??? in collaboration with Math Circles, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore on November 16, 2023. The workshop started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat. Prof. Dr. Zill i Huma Nazli (Patron in Chief), Vice Chancellor of GCWUF, graced the event and delivered opening remarks. In her address she appreciated the efforts of the Department of Mathematics for conducting the workshop. She also emphasized the importance of mathematics for the development of the society. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Patron), Chairperson Department of Mathematics, GCWUF, talked about the transformative role of mathematics in fostering growth, prosperity and overall well-being of its learners. She further highlighted that engaging a total of 200 students, accompanied by their designated focal persons, hailing from 13 public and private sector schools, the Mathematics Department of GCWUF actively participated in community and societal services. This notable involvement underscores the department's commitment to making a positive impact beyond the academic realm. Dr. Imran Anwar (Resource Person), Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, LUMS gave an overview of the Math Circles initiative and its objectives and talked about the historical development of the subject and discussed how mathematical principals, applications and problem-solving contribute not only to academic and professional success but also to the broader aspects of personal and societal advancement. The second resource person, Dr. Waqas Ali Azhar (Assistant Professor of the Department of Mathematics, LUMS), talked about modern-day developments with interesting applications of calculus. The workshop was attended by students and teachers from different schools in Faisalabad. Students participated in different activities, explored interesting ways of learning mathematics and performed various interactive activities with the resource persons. The main objective of the workshop was to provide an interactive platform for students to explore the complexities of mathematical thinking, promote a culture of mathematical exploration and inspire a passion for knowledge. The workshop concluded with the remarks of Dr. Asia Rauf, Associate Professor of the Department of Mathematics, GCWUF.
