In collaboration with the Punjab Food Authority, the Department of Food Science and Technology, GCWUF organized an awareness seminar entitled ???Safe Food City Project: Food Safety A Shared Responsibility??? under the umbrella of GCWUF Commercialization Wing. Prof. Dr. Zilli Huma Nazli (Vice Chancellor GCWUF) was the Patron in Chief. Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen (Patron, Chairperson Department of Food Science and Technology) inaugurated the session with her preamble. Mr. Muhammad Asif A Malik (Registrar, GCWUF) also embraced the event and shared a few words of wisdom. Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen, Chairperson Department of Food Science and Technology presented souvenirs to the guests as a token of remembrance. As the keynote speaker, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza (Deputy Director Operations, Punjab Food Authority) talked about the pivotal connection of safe food products with human health. He emphasized the implementation of food safety management systems, HACCP Analysis in food processing/manufacturing premises for the production of hygienic and nutritious food choices for masses in localities. He highlighted his insights and expertise to ensure safe food availability for everyone to boost their nutrition status. Afterward, other guest speakers including Dr. Syeda Ayesha Batool (Master Trainer, Punjab Food Authority) and Ms. Tayaba Liaquat (Nutrition Officer, Punjab Food Authority) addressed a comprehensive lecture on food adulteration, food hazards (biological, physical, and chemical) and associated risks. Lastly, an interactive question and answer session was conducted to clarify the queries of students. A successful seminar aimed at delivering insights into sustaining a healthy diet tailored for university students. In the end, Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Chairperson, Department of Mathematics) concluded the session and delivered a vote of thanks.
