The Quality Enhancement Cell at Government College Women University Faisalabad recently arranged a comprehensive two-day Self-Post Graduate Program Review (PGPR) for the academic year 2023-2024. The primary objective was to evaluate the effectiveness and quality of their M.Phil. and PhD programs across various disciplines including Chemistry, Food Science and Technology, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Arabic, Business Administration, Physics, Islamic Studies, and Urdu. To ensure a comprehensive review, an external assessment team was convened, headed by Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha, Director of the QEC at Govt College University Faisalabad. Internally, the assessment team comprised Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of GCWUF, and Dr. Aasma Khalid, the Director of QEC at GCWUF. The evaluation process commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Aasma Khalid, who provided an overview of the university's postgraduate programs to Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha. Following this introduction, each department head meticulously presented detailed insights into their respective programs. This included information on student demographics, course structures, faculty composition for MPhil and PhD programs, as well as the availability of teaching and research resources, including laboratory equipment. Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha undertook a thorough examination of each program, focusing on various aspects such as faculty qualifications, allocation of research supervisors, curriculum coherence, and adherence to procedural guidelines. Notably, he emphasized the alignment of research endeavors with the Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in their updated PSG-2023 framework. Throughout the review process, Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha provided valuable feedback to the department heads, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement within each program. Discussions centered on enhancing the quality and relevance of education and research initiatives to meet evolving societal needs and global challenges. Prof. Dr. Nazli expressed gratitude to Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha for his insightful evaluation and constructive recommendations. As a gesture of appreciation, she presented him with a souvenir as a token of remembrance for his contribution to the review process.
