The Department of Applied Psychology at Government College Women University Faisalabad engaged students in the "YOUNGs Initiative for Sustainable Development Goals," specifically focusing on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. This initiative, directed by the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, in collaboration with the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at GCWUF, underscores a commitment to fostering mental wellness among students. On April 24, 2024, a one-day seminar themed "Unlock Your Potential, Prioritize Your Mental Health" took place in Room 23 of GCWUF's Fatima Block, commencing at 12:00 pm.Led by a dedicated student Farwa Batool form 6th Smester along with her team members working on SDG 3, in partnership with the QEC and spearheaded by Dr. Saira Khan from the Department of Applied Psychology, the seminar aimed to raise awareness about mental well-being. Additionally, Dr. Riffat Sadiq and Sobia Aftab from the QEC contributed as guest speakers, augmenting the discourse on mental wellness. Farwa Batool delivered a comprehensive briefing on the SDGs, highlighting the pivotal role of mental health in our lives. She also explains stress-reduction strategies, empowering students to understand and manage their mental health effectively. Dr. Saira khan facilitated a relaxation therapy session, fostering a conducive environment for mental well-being and how mental health is important for our lives. Dr.Riffat Sadiq, the Head of the Department, inspired students to actively engage with the UN 2030 agenda, elucidating how youth can champion the Sustainable Development Goals.Following the presentations, students actively participated in exercises designed to deepen their understanding of the historical context, significance, and multifaceted nature of the SDGs. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of GCWUF towards nurturing holistic development among its students, with a particular emphasis on mental wellness and sustainable development.
