Department of Physics, GCWUF organized one day International Seminar on ???Clean and Affordable Energy: Challenges and Solutions??? on April 29, 2024 in Jinnah Auditorium to exhibit SGD-7 (Affordable and Clean energy) under the directions of the Ministry of Planning & Development and Quality Enhancement Cell GCWUF. The seminar addressed the pressing need for transitioning towards sustainable energy sources while ensuring affordability and accessibility. It explored the latest advancements, challenges, and future prospects related to Clean and Affordable Energy in solar cell technology. Dr Ayesha Younas (acting Chairperson, Dept of Physics) welcomed all guests and participants and briefed the students about seminar and importance of SGD-7. The seminar commenced with a keynote speech by international speaker Dr Babar Hussain (Xanadu Quantum Technologies, USA) on recent advancements in the field of ZnO/Silicon solar cell. Another focal point of the seminar was photovoltaic technologies, with a particular emphasis on solar cells and their efficiency enhancement strategies. 2nd International speaker Dr Sikandar Aftab (Sejong University, South Korea) gave comprehensive talk on the functional nanoelectronics and photovoltaic technologies. National speakers Dr Hafeez Anwar (UAF, Faisalabad), Dr Sofia Akbar (GCUF), Dr Ijaz Ahmad Khan (GCUF) and Mr Shamas Mushtaq (GCUF) gave valuable talks on Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells, silicon based photovoltaic, PERC solar cells, Photoelectrochemical Solar Devices and Renewable energy. The seminar ended with sincere appreciation to speakers, and participants for their valuable contributions to the seminar, which served as a platform for meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange in the field of Clean and Affordable energy.
