A one-day awareness workshop titled The Foundation of Well-being: Nutritional Health and Protective Rights of All Genders was organized by the Women Development and Mentoring Centre (WDMC) and the Department of Nutritional Sciences, GCWUF in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, on 30th, Jan, 2026. The workshop aimed to highlight the significance of nutritional well-being and protective rights in fostering a healthy and inclusive society, with a special emphasis on womens empowerment and gender equality. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.) emphasized the critical role of education and nutrition in promoting well-being across all genders. She appreciated the efforts of her team in organizing such timely and awareness-driven initiatives. During the workshop, Dr. Sadaf Naqvi, Incharge WDMC, briefed participants on the centre???s mission and its ongoing activities focused on awareness and empowerment at the university. Dr. Muhammad Ahmad, District Program Manager, JICA (FSJ), shared insights into JICAs nutrition and community development initiatives across Punjab, stressing the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and development organizations. Keynote speakers Ms. Sidra Fatima Minhas and Ms. Ayesha Nadeem addressed critical issues regarding womens nutritional health during pregnancy in urban and rural settings, health disparities among women, and the impact of cultural norms on womens well-being. Additional contributions were made by Ms. Ayesha Kabeer, Ms. Umemah Tareen, and Ms. Fajeera Asif, enriching the discussions with practical perspectives and recommendations. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, acknowledged the speakers, organizers, and participants for their valuable contributions to the event.
