The Department of Art & Design, GCWUF organized a one-day research-based workshop titled 'Photography: The Art of Storytelling' on 5th May 2026. The workshop aimed to bridge academic learning with field practice by drawing on the real-life experiences and extensive travelling exposures of the resource person. The session focused on how photography functions as a narrative medium rooted in observation, cultural memory, and lived experience. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Umair Ghani, an internationally recognized photographer. Mr. Ghani shared insights from his photographic journeys across Pakistan and abroad, emphasizing how travel, cultural immersion and human interaction shape visual storytelling. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I), Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. The workshop was organized by the Department of Art & Design and was attended by Coordinator Arts and Humanities Dr Shazia Adnan, Head of Department English Dr Sadia, along with faculty members from the Department of Art & Design and other departments of the university. The workshop was also attended by the students of Art & Design from Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), University of Agriculture Faisalabad and National Textile University (NTU) The inter-university participation encouraged interdisciplinary dialogue on visual research and storytelling. Mr. Ghani reviewed work of students in the 2nd session, stressing ethics, consent, and the responsibility of representing real lives. He linked technical choices to narrative intent drawn from lived encounters. The workshop successfully highlighted how a photographer's personal journeys and field experiences translate into meaningful visual research.
