Introduction

In today's rapidly evolving world, the scope of Mass Media and Journalism is influenced by various factors, such as technological advancements, changes in lifestyle, and shifting preferences. The world is increasingly driven by technology, and these changes significantly impact the media landscape. With the growing popularity of mass communication mediums, the demand for professionals in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication continues to rise. A Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication opens doors to a wide range of career opportunities, including content writing and generation, public relations, journalism, TV correspondence, fashion photography, advertising, the film industry, event management, legal affairs, online media, and digital marketing. To meet the rising demand for skilled professionals in this field, Govt. College Women University Faisalabad has initiated the BS Mass Communication program, taking significant steps to nurture talent in this growing industry.

In the current era of science and information technology, communication and media studies have become indispensable. A nation's ability to safeguard its interests largely depends on effective communication strategies. The advancement of information technology has transformed the world into a global village, making it essential to prioritize mass media education. While Mass Communication is still emerging as a discipline, its relevance is undeniable in today's interconnected world. Media plays a critical role in shaping ideologies both within nations and globally. The process of media content creation is influenced by various factors, and understanding the pressure that impact media production is vital. Students in Mass Communication must grasp the complexities involved in communication strategies, public relations, advertising campaigns, media policy, image building, and public opinion formation. With these goals in mind, Govt. College Women University Faisalabad aims to establish the Department of Media and Communication Studies. The objective is to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to tackle challenges on both national and international fronts.

Mission

The mission of the Department of" Media and Communication Studies "is to foster a healthy, positive approach to the communication of information, knowledge, and opinions. We aim to engage with and contribute to community development, providing students with opportunities for service-oriented leadership. The department also strives to instill the values of responsible citizenship and the development of democratic institutions and practices, ensuring that students are prepared to take on leadership roles in the media industry and beyond.

The art of moving ahead and personal growth is indispensable for a civilized and stable society. People who are stuck at one point in life are neither fruitful for self/others nor can they benefit the society they belong to. One significant cause behind our moral and social decline is mental instability.Today, people exhibit less frustration tolerance in response of environmental snags leading quarrel on minor issues at home and work. Severe interpersonal conflict at work is a barrier in uplifting the standard of any organization. Besides, students owing to psychological disturbance could not perform well in academics despite having sufficient intellectual resources.

Considering this,the department of Applied Psychology decided to establish a"Psychological Wellness Center" to help university staff/ students and outsiders in overcoming and managing their psychosocial problems, developing coping skills to combat personal, academic, familial and social difficulties and enabling them to grow toward the positive pole of life.
