Introduction

Sociology is the scientific study of human relationships and their consequences on society. Sociological knowledge is applicable at individual, family and societal level. So on increasing demand of the subject a four years BS program in Sociology was introduced in 2013.BS in Sociology is a broad based interdisciplinary degree which gives a deep insight to the students about a wide range of social issues .The course outline for BS Sociology has been designed to introduce the students with evolution of culture and dynamics of the societies as well as the types of social system.Socio-economic changes and phenomenon of globalization are also the major interests of Sociological study. This program will enable the students to carry out the research on different Socio-economic and cultural problems existing in society and graduates will get ample opportunities for a variety of jobs in the society . 2 years program of M.sc Sociology has been started in 2015 .Moreover we are also planning to start M.Phill Program soon.

The vision of the department of Sociology is to create an environment that will nurture, shape and inspire the students to be committed to excellence, faith, leadership and service to humanity.

Mission

The mission of the department of Sociology is to provide Sociological knowledge to the students which is relevant to their practical life. Moreover, efforts are made to discover the broad patterns of Interaction of social life that influence the human social behavior. This is further strengthened by carrying out research on socio-economic, cultural, environmental and political problems of Pakistani Society.

BS Sociology [Four Years Degree Programme ]

  • Program Duration: 4 year
  • Eligibility Criteria: F.A/F.Sc/I.Com/I.CS/A-Level or equivalent with at least 45 % marks (2nd Division)

M. Sc Sociology [Two Years Degree Programme ]

  • Program Duration: 2 years
  • Eligibility Criteria: B.A/B.Sc (2 years) or equivalent with the relevant subject with at least 45 % marks (2nd Division) *Candidates with only B.Com are eligible to apply **Candidates must qualify an Aptitude Test securing 50% marks ***Hafiza or Alima can obtain 5 grace marks if she had authentic certificate of Wifaq. Certificate of local madrissas will not be entertained
