The Department of Food Science and Technology working under the Faculty of Science and Technology received an Accreditation visit on 9th December 2022. The NAEAC accreditation team members included Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq A. Rajwana, Chairperson NAEAC, Prof. Dr. Fauzia Yusuf Hafeez, Vice-Chairperson NAEAC, Prof. (Retd.) Dr. Alam Zeb (Ex-Dean Faculty of Nutrition Sciences, The University of Agriculture Peshawar), and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ayub (Dean of Faculty of Nutrition Sciences, University of Agriculture Peshawar). Mr. Asif A Malik, Registrar GCWUF, Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Coordinator Science and Technology, Rizwana Tanveer Randhawa, Controller of Examinations, Dr. Aasma Khalid, Director QEC, Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Director ORIC, Amara Javed, Add???l Director PM&P were present in the orientation session. Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen, Head of Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr. Saima Tehseen, Associate Head, and Dr. Rizwana Batool, HEC focal person welcomed NAEAC team, and started the session with the recitation of Holy Quran. The registrar, GCWUF gave a brief introduction of the university, highlighted significant achievements, admission rate, and future initiatives including new degree programs to be launched. Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq A. Rajwana briefly introduced NAEAC, its composition, mission, objectives, evaluation criteria for academic programs, curriculum design and development, accreditation categories, and previous AIC recommendations for Department of Food Science and Technology. Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen gave a brief presentation on the current status of the department, faculty profiles, research publications, ongoing and completed projects, scholarships availed by students, number of students enrolled, lab details, teaching learning approaches adopted by the faculty, student assessment methods, graduate research supervision policy, academia industry linkages and MOU, academic collaborations, HEC curriculum adopted, program???s vision, mission and objectives, departmental budget, BOS composition, admission policy, annual intake, pass percentage, average CGPA, students dropout rate and admission response, lecture shortage rules and regulations, in-depth assessment of student???s course review profile for each course through QEC, evidence of completion of contact hours, time table, research facilities, hostel accommodation, transportation, students internship report, SWOT analysis, actionable recommendations of AIC in previous visit. Afterwards, the team members interacted with undergraduate students in separate sessions and visited the department to check the infrastructure, the capacity of each lab, lab manuals, and equipment. Textbooks and reference books available in the main library were also examined. Computer lab and classrooms equipped with internet and multimedia facility, faculty offices, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, medical facilities, daycare center, hostels, QEC, ORIC, Controller of Examination offices, and transport system were evaluated and the team extended its recommendations for further improvement in various spheres. Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sameen thanked the honorable guests and assured them that the AIC???s recommendations would be positively implemented to improve the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of graduates. She mentioned the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq???s vision and policies to strengthen the infrastructure of the university and provision of all possible learning and research facilities on the campus for our students. At the end, souvenirs were presented to honorable team members.
