Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (T.I.), Vice Chancellor, Government College Women University Faisalabad attended a one-day seminar today as chief guest on "International Day of Women and Girls in Science" organised by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Lahore. Rector, University of Lahore Prof Dr Ashraf (H.I., S.I., POP) warmly welcomed the Vice Chancellor to his organisation and thanked her for sparing time to participate in the event as chief guest. Addressing the audience of the seminar, worthy Vice Chancellor congratulated the leadership that encouraged young women scientists to showcase their established potential; to search for interdisciplinary collaboration and to find solutions of issues which are multifaced in nature. She discussed advancement in biotechnology, and vital role of women scientists in achieving sustainable developmental goals, bringing peace to countries, reducing conflicts, and promoting STEM education for women and girls. She declared it necessary to bring diversity in research science particularly during an economic recession in the whole world. At the end, she appreciated the efforts of organizers for believing in intelligent minds of women and providing them equal opportunities in STEM education. Hundreds of students, faculty members and key administrative officers attended the event.
