In connection with the World Mental Health Day, the department of Applied Psychology has organized a mental health camp at university level on 10th of October, 2023 from 9 to 3 pm. The worthy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zill-e-Huma Nazli was the Patron-in-Chief of the event. First, staff and students were gathered for awareness walk at 10:00 am. Then, Vice-Chancellor along with Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen (Coordinator Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Coordinator Faculty of Science and Technology), Dr. Madiha (In charge Department of Nutritional Science), Dr. Tamseela (In charge, Department of Zoology), Dr. Saiqa Sadiq (In charge, Department of Public Administration) and Ms. Tayyaba (Department of Political Science) visited the Mental Health Camp. Later on, other faculty members including Dr. Nosheen Syed, Ms, Nasreen Akhtar and Ms. Qamar Shahzadi also visited the mental health camp and participated in psychological assessment. Screening of tolerance, emotional intelligence, self-esteem, personality types and psychological problems including depression, anxiety, stress and anger was done using standardized questionnaires, drawing and writing style. Psychological counseling was also provided regarding psychosocial issues, academic/work related issues and drug abuse problems. Staff and students also how to mentally relax own self through deep breathing exercise. Worthy Vice-Chancellor, Coordinators, In charges and faculty members appreciated a lot for organizing the event like mental health camp to address the mental health of staff and students of GCWUF and made the access to psychological services their fundamental right.
