In the connection of community services program, a mental health camp was arranged by the Department of Applied Psychology, Govt. College Women University, Faisalabad (GCWUF) for the students of Graduate Government College (GGC), People??? Coloney, Faisalabad on February 11, 2025. Under the supervision of Dr. Riffat Sadiq, In charge/Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Psychology, GCWUF and with the valuable support from Dr. Najma Bano, Head of the Department of Psychology, and Dr. Anza Ijaz, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology (GGV), both focal persons (Ms. Hafiza Saba Javaid & Ms. Quratulain), designated for the community services, did tremendous job utilizing their leadership potentials to the great extent. The prime purpose of mental health camp was to make students aware of their psychological health status influencing their social, and academic functioning. Approximately, 200 students visited the camp while 97 got psychological help pertaining to their psychosocial and academic issues. The camp offered a wide range of services including screening of common mental health problems such as: stress, anxiety, depression, anger, individual and group counseling sessions, and consultation as well. Group counseling sessions with students were specifically held by Ms. Saba Javaid and Ms. Qurat-ul- Ain. Group sessions exclusively focused on the pragmatic use of coping strategies in response to the mental health issues including mental exercises, life skills, problem focused techniques, etc. Individual sessions were conducted in one-to-one setting while ensuring confidentiality and privacy. Psychologists also guided students how to get psychological help from Psychological Wellness Center of GCWUF in future. Arrangement of mental health camp for community seemed fruitful in raising awareness, fostering open conversations about mental health, and empowering students to prioritize their psychological well-being if they desire to achieve life goals.
