The chairperson of the Mathematics Department, Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, recently graced the two-day International Conference on Recent Trends in Mathematics as an invited speaker. A prestigious conference took place at the Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences, GCU Lahore, on June 1-2, 2024 where prominent mathematicians from all over the world gathered. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram is skilled in numerical analysis, which is crucial for the development of cutting-edge technologies and backbone in developing artificial intelligence algorithms. During the event, her title talk on "A Family of Eighth Order Iterative Techniques for Unknown Multiplicity with Applications in Osteoporosis, Beam Design, and Root Clustering Model" captured a lot of attention. Prof. Dr. Saima Akram not only delivered an engaging presentation, but also had the chance to take part in interviews. She emphasized the department's significant advancements in mathematics education, which include the addition of new specializations in BS program in data science. It is worth mentioning that the department's dedication goes beyond undergraduate studies, as it will be launching a PhD program in Fall 2024-2025.
