Department of Mathematics, Government College Women University Faisalabad organized an International Webinar entitled The Square Root of 2, the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci Sequence on 21st September 2021. It was a one day Webinar to develop the collaboration with International mathematicians so that they can share their knowledge, experiences and achievement in this technical area. The Webinar ceremony commenced with recitation of verses from Holy Quran. Dr. Asia Rauf, Head of Department of Mathematics, GCWUF presented the welcome note. Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, Vice Chancellor GCWUF, made a welcome speech for the guest speaker and researchers in the webinar. Dr. Asia Rauf, convener of the ceremony introduced keynote speaker, Mr. Michel Waldschmidt to the participants. Prof. Michel Waldschmidt, presented the mathematical concept of irrationality of square root of 2, consecutive Fibonacci numbers or sequence which has leads to golden ratio (an irrational number that most often occurred when taking distances proportion in simple geometry shape), and convergence of the sequence and any geometric significance by considering the spiral and self-similar curve which have been appreciated for long due to their beauty in the world. Furthermore, he took into account the recurrence relation of Fibonacci sequence, which can be used to generate Lucas sequence with the aid of different initial conditions. The explanations show the ways and how Fibonacci numbers have been in existence in the world we live in. He explained the presence of golden ratio in some works of art and architecture. The Speaker Prof. Michel Waldschmidt advised to focus more on irrationality of 2 and prime numbers to get more advanced knowledge. In the end there was a note of thanks by Dr. Asia Rauf, The head of Department of Mathematics, GCWUF. All the participants appreciated the energetic efforts of Dr. Asia Rauf for conducting the International Webinar in Mathematics Department GCWUF under the kind patronage of worthy vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq. Keynote Speaker: Mr. Michel Waldschmidt, Professor, Institut de Mathmatiques de Jussieu, Paris University Pierre et Marie Curie, France.
