The Department of Nutritional Sciences, GCWUF organized a seminar under the research project entitled 'Exploring Therapeutic Potential of Moringa and Aloe Vera through value added products' being carried out under Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB). The main objective of the seminar was to disseminate the findings of the research and to disseminate information for educating people living with diabetes mellitus. It was celebrated in the context of World Diabetes Day on this year???s theme i.e. ???Diabetes Education to Protect Tomorrow. Large number of students, faculty members and professionals participated in the seminar. Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Convener/Incharge of the Department of Nutritional Sciences welcomed the participants and emphasized that, there is a need of the time to organize such type of seminars to create awareness regarding the management of diabetes mellitus and to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Resource Persons of the event were Prof. Dr. Shahzad Basra and Dr. Habib Aslam Gaba. Prof. Dr. Shahzad Basra (Rtd.) Ex. Chairman of the Department of Agronomy, UAF. He described the importance of medicinal plants, healthy eating and daily workout for the management of Diabetes Mellitus. Dr. Habib Aslam Gaba (MBBS, KE) D Card (UK) Consultant Cardiologist/Trainer/ Chairman Chamber of Commerce, Faisalabad, delivered a lecture on Access to diabetes education for better tomorrow. He described that the Diabetes Self-management Education and Support Services (DSMES) can help to improve blood sugar levels and prevent or delay serious diabetes complications. Ms. Zara Butt disseminated the findings of the research project entitled, Exploring therapeutic potential of Moringa & Aloe Vera through Value-Added Products. The research products were also displayed on a stall in the auditorium and brochures of information were distributed among participants. Administrative Heads, Chairpersons/Incharges, faculty members and students visited the stall and appreciated the efforts of the Project Manager Dr. Madiha Ilyas and congratulated her on successful completion of the research project. The seminar ended on a vote of thanks by the Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Coordinator, Faculty of Science & Technology. Mr. Asif A. Malik, Registrar, GCWUF graced the event with his valuable remarks and on behalf of the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq (T.I). He appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee and Incharge of the Department of Nutritional Sciences.
