The Department of Nutritional Sciences, GCWUF organized Nutrition Festival on 7th March 2024, at GCWUF on the theme of the National Nutrition Month 2024 i.e. ???Beyond the Table???. It is celebrated globally in the month of March every year. The aim of the festival was to enhance the skills of the Nutrition and Dietetics students needed to convey information about nutrition to the population. The festival had four components 1. Nutrition Awareness Walk 2. Nutrition Camp 3.Cake Cutting ceremony 4. Display of Food and Nutraceutical stalls. Worthy Vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Coordinator, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Director Students Affairs, Ms. Aasma Aziz, Coordinators of all Faculties, Head of Administration and Teaching Departments, Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Convener/ Incharge, Department of Nutritional Sciences, faculty members and students of different Departments participated in the festival. Nutrition Camp and Food stalls were inaugurated by the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli along with dignitaries and nutrition awareness walk and cake cutting ceremony was held on the celebration of National Nutrition Month. A variety of stalls were set up by the students covering topics from plant-based eating and healthy eating on a budget, to portion sizes focusing on health and well-being, in a bid to educate staff and fellow students. Functional food and Nutraceuticals were prepared for the maintenance of good health and weel being, which attracted a large number of festivity lovers. Nutrition festivals are an excellent platform to explore various healthy food products, to check their acceptability by consumers and tests for future ideas and meals for entrepreneurship. Worthy Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the HOD: Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Faculty members and students of Department of Nutritional Sciences for organizing such a wonderful event.
