The Department of Nutritional Sciences is one of the premier Department of the University representing an emerging and exciting field of study. The Department is offering the degree of BS Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) and have a large number of students. The degree of BS (HND) is now registered with National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council and the process of accreditation has been initiated. The accreditation ensures the academic excellence and institutional integrity. It plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards in education, research, and community engagement. Accreditation reinforces the University???s dedication to continuous improvement, quality assurance, and accountability. In this context, a seminar on ???Quality Assurance and Accreditation Awareness??? was organized in collaboration with the NAEAC on 3rd December, 2024 in the Jinnah Auditorium.The main objective of the seminar was to create awareness and to provide insights into the accreditation process. The awareness keeps faculty, staff, and students actively engaged in maintaining academic standards. Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of Department, Nutritional Sciences received and welcomed the honourable guests Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary NAEAC and Mr. Abdullah, Deputy Director Programs, NAEAC. The seminar was started with the recitation of Holy Quran followed by Naat-e- Rasool Maqbool (SAW). Dr. Madiha Ilyas, delivered a brief presentation of the Department on the admission intake, revenue generation, educational system, internship opportunities, academic collaborations, publications and research projects of the faculty. She also described about the engagement of students in social out-reach activities and achievements of the students in extra-curricular activities and also enlightened about the Seminars, Webinars, Nutrition Festivals and Training Workshops organized by the Department of Nutritional Sciences. After that, the guest speaker Dr. Abdul Ghaffar, Secretary NAEAC delivered the presentation on ???Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education???. The main objective of this talk was to explain the overall process of accreditation and its significance in maintaining the quality of education in Institutions. Dr. Abdul Ghaffar introduced the NAEAC, explained the evaluation criteria for the accreditation process which comprised of 8 main criteria and 73 sub criteria. He also explained the impact of accreditation on quality improvement by presenting the data for the last 14 years. The seminar was attended by academic coordinators, faculty members and students of the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I.), Patron In-Chief, graced the event with her valuable remarks, she appreciated the efforts of the Department for organizing such a wonderful event and also acknowledged the team members of NAEAC and assured that the administration will fulfill the accreditation requirements of NAEAC to maintain the quality and standards of education. At the end, souvenirs were presented to the NAEAC Secretariat staff.
