The Department of Nutritional Sciences, GCWUF organized Grand Nutrition Festival on 27th February, 2025 at GCWUF under SDG III, "Good Health & Well being". It was celebrated on the theme of the National Nutrition Month, 2025 i.e. ???Food Connects Us???. It is celebrated globally in the month of March every year. The objective of the National Nutrition Month is an annual nutrition education and information campaign. The festival has four components. 1. Nutrition Awareness Walk In alignment with Nutrition Month, Department organized a lively Nutrition Awareness Walk. The walk was centred around the theme ???Food Connects Us,??? which highlighted the importance of nutrition in uniting people from diverse backgrounds. Walk was led by Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen (T.I) as Chief Guest of the event, accompanied by Dr. Najma Afzal Khan, Ex-MPA and Chairperson, Standing Committee on Health, Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FWCCI) as Guest of Honour and Prof. Dr. Zilli-i-Huma Nazli, Pro-Vice Chancellor, GCWUF. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Shahzad Basra, renowned Scientist, Dr. Sadia Asim (Registrar, GCWUF), Mrs. Rizwana Tanveer Randhawa (Controller of Examinations, GCWUF), Dr. Nausheen Syed ( Treasurer, GCWUF), Dr. Asma Aziz (Director Student Affairs, GCWUF), Prof. Dr. Saima Akram (Coordinator, Faculty of Management Sciences), Dr. Mubashra Sadia, Chairperson, Biochemistry, Dr. Riffat Sadiq, HOD, Applied Psychology and Ms. Misbah (Librarian, GCWUF). Students, faculty, and staff participated enthusiastically, walking through the campus . 2. Inauguration of Festival, Cake Cutting Ceremony & Food Stalls Visit The Nutrition Festival began with a vibrant ribbon and cake cutting ceremony, celebrating National Nutrition Month. The event was attended by dignitaries, special guests, HODs, faculty members, and students. Following the ceremony, attendees explored student-organized food stalls featuring healthy recipes, snacks, and beverages, offering a hands-on experience to learn about balanced diets and nutritious eating. 3. Nutrition Camp: Promoting Healthy Eating Habits As part of the Nutrition Festival, the Nutrition Camp played a key role in promoting healthy eating habits. Led by expert nutritionists and faculty, the camp featured interactive sessions on balanced diets, disease prevention, meal planning, and portion control. Emphasizing the benefits of fresh, locally sourced foods, the event successfully raised awareness about the long-term advantages of good nutrition and encouraged participants to make healthier dietary choices. 4. Labelling Camp: Empowering Consumers to Make Informed Food Choices At the Nutrition Festival held at GCWUF, a Labelling Camp was organized to educate consumers on effectively reading and understanding food labels. Through interactive workshops and demonstrations, participants learned to interpret key label components such as serving size, nutritional content, ingredients, and common claims like "low fat" or "sugar-free." The camp aimed to empower individuals to make healthier and more informed food choices. 5. Oath Taking Ceremony of the Nutrition and Wellness Society As part of the festivities, the Oath Taking Ceremony of the Nutrition and Wellness Society (BS HND) marked a significant milestone in student commitment to promoting health and wellness. Society members pledged to advocate for healthy nutritional practices, support sustainable food systems, and raise awareness about the importance of wellness in daily life. The Vice Chancellor, along with the Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, commended Dr. Madiha Ilyas, the faculty, and students for their remarkable efforts in making the event a success.
