Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of Department, Nutritional Sciences, Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF), participated in a two-day national consultative workshop titled Developing a National Food Security and Nutrition Research Agenda for Pakistan held at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) from 27th to 28th May 2025. The workshop was jointly organized by the National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT) and the Pak-Korea Nutrition Center (PKNC), with technical assistance from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). The consultative forum brought together representatives from academia, research organizations, development partners, government institutions, and the private sector. The agenda focused on identifying national research priorities related to food systems transformation, nutrition security, non-communicable diseases, food safety, climate resilience, and governance. Through panel discussions, thematic group work, and stakeholder consultations, participants contributed evidence-based insights to shape a coherent and action-oriented national research framework. Dr. Madiha Ilyas actively contributed to the consultative discussions, sharing academic and research perspectives to strengthen policy-relevant nutrition research in Pakistan. The outcomes of the workshop will support the development of a consensus-based national research agenda to guide future policies and programs for sustainable food systems and improved nutrition outcomes.
