Under the kind directions of Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, Dr. Abida Kausar Convener of the event and Incharge Department of Botany, GC Women University Faisalabad arranged this worthwhile event on Wednesday 30th March, 2022. The purpose of this event was to wake up the people and to make them realize, how important the trees and plants in our lives are. Shortfalls of natural and semi natural forests for agricultural purpose is a major concern for biodiversity. Plantations are most likely to promote to biodiversity when established on damaged lands instead of swapping natural ecosystems. Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq, Vice Chancellor GCWUF welcomed the Chief guest, Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar and all the respected guests, Faculty members and students. She gave an overview of this activity and emphasis on plantation with words that tree planting is necessary in order to save Pakistan from the troubles of climate change and global warming, for which every citizen must take part in it so that we can make Pakistan a clean and green country. The honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq extended her heartfelt gratitude to all the stakeholders for participating in this noble cause. Chief Guest Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar inaugurated the Ch. Sarwar Biodiversity Park by planting a tree at GCWUF New campus Khurrianwala and said that the promotion of tree planting is the most urgent need of the hour. He called it an honour to participate in the grand planting campaign at GC Women University New campus, he appreciated and thanked the varsity administration for naming the park after him. He said that GCWUF is playing a leading role in combating climate change by planting fruit and flowering plants in the vicinity of new campus would not only enhance the natural beauty but also benefit birds and animals. He also appreciated the plantation of 10000 plants during 2021.
